The seeds for e Engaging NWI Business Women were planted more than 20 years ago when Ann Peters and Julie Olthoff published a directory of area businesswomen. Over a business lunch in 2008 they decided to do it again—and then started listing the benefits:
• Find others
• Meet others
• Mentor others
• Coach and educate others
They contacted The Times for assistance in facilitating the directory and shared their thoughts with several others. Their good idea for a directory fast became a great E-dea!
After nearly a year of high-energy meetings, the core group defined mission and vision statements, hammered out bylaws and identified the direction they wanted to take. The group applied for 501 (c) 3 nonprofit status in spring 2009. The website, face-to-face networking events and a printed directory are the group’s first projects. Contact us to find out more. |
