Letter from the President

December 5, 2011

Dear Women of E:

We had another great meeting on November 15, 2011 at the Horizon Bank in Merrillville.  We continued our tradition of having November be our “Gratitude” meeting.  We welcomed Teresa Sealscott from St. Clare Clinic, who told us of the work that the clinic is doing to assist needy patients, and we brought donations from the clinic’s “Wish List” to stock their pantry and medicine closet for the patients that they serve.  We also had a wonderful time networking with members and some new faces as well.  There is no program meeting this month, but by now you should have the e-vite from me for our Holiday Get Together here at my office in Merrillville.  It will be December 15th, from 4:30 to 6:30.Bring a friend—the more the merrier!

We have a great line-up of programs for January through April of 2012—I’m enclosing our Coming Attractions for you.  Think now about how many guests you can bring to these programs.  The Board is focusing its attention on this group of programs to recruit new members—but we need everyone to participate and to bring guests to our programs.  Our power comes from our associations with one another.  We have a “Membership Special” on right now—anyone who joins and pays annual dues now through the end of April will not pay dues again until May of 2013—January through April is the “bonus”!  We are also rolling out a Corporate Membership Program to allow multiple members from firms to participate—I’ll give you all the details once we get them ironed out.

We are also trying to incorporate some new communications strategies so that we can all know more about one another and communicate more frequently and in a more seamless way. If you have not already done so, join our LinkedIn group, our Facebook page and our Twitter Feed.  One of the other projects we hope to get rolling is to begin to provide some active and meaningful mentorship for women coming into the workforce or trying to move up in their careers.  Also, it is never too early to begin thinking about the 2012-2013 program year. If you have suggestions for programming, would like to volunteer for a program, or if you might be interested in serving as a member of the Program Committee, let me know.

If we won’t see you at the Holiday Get Together-have a wonderful holiday season.

Warmest personal regards-

Melanie Dunajeski (President, “e”)
